Yale Professor Marc Brackett, Ph.D. Reminds Us That We Have 'Permission to Feel'

Marc Brackett, a professor at Yale University's Child Study Center and founding director of the Yale Center for Emotional Intelligence, says our children are facing a crisis of their mental well-being and he wants to fix it. He believes that too many children and adults are suffering, ashamed of their feelings and emotionally unskilled, and they don't have to be. His prescription for healthy children–and their parents, teachers, and schools–is a system he calls RULER, a high-impact and fast-effect approach to understanding and mastering emotions. In his new book "Permission to Feel," Brackett reveals how RULER has been proven to reduce stress and burnout, improve school climate, and enhance academic achievement.
