This week at The Sunday Paper, Jamie Lee Curtis is sharing what she's listening to, what she's reading, what she's watching, and a charity that she wants us to support. We hope these suggestions open your heart and mind and encourage you to come together for meaningful conversations.

What Jamie's Listening To

Jamie is listening to Blue, Joni Mitchell’s fourth studio album, released in 1971. With Mitchell's vulnerable lyrics, she explores love, heartbreak, and a love for California in a way that feels timeless. Thanks for reminding us all of this iconic album, Jamie!

What Jamie's Reading

Jamie is reading Shirley Hazzard’s The Transit of Venus, an emotionally layered novel that follows two Australian sisters as they navigate love, ambition, and loss over several decades in post-war England. This one is perfect for readers who crave depth, elegance, and melancholy.

Jamie is also reading The Book of Awakening by Mark Nepo, a spiritual daybook offering daily reflections, stories, and meditations to help readers live more mindfully and authentically. It's a great read for anyone seeking clarity, healing, and a deeper ability to be present in their everyday life.

And that's not all! Jamie is also recommending East of Eden by John Steinbeck, originally published in 1952. Set against the rich backdrop of California’s Salinas Valley, it masterfully weaves themes of good and evil, family conflict, and redemption into a gripping story. Steinbeck’s vivid storytelling is based in biblical allegory, particularly the story of Cain and Abel, making this novel a powerful ode to identity and free will.

What Jamie's Watching

Jamie is watching her new movie Freakier Friday, a fun sequel to the classic body-swap comedy Freaky Friday (2003) which was originally based on Mary Rodgers' 1972 novel. Curtis and Lindsay Lohan share the big screen once again as everyone's favorite mother daughter duo who swap bodies, only this time involving the next generation of daughters. Set against the challenges of blending families, the film mixes humor and heart as they navigate their swapped lives. With strong performances, a variety of beloved cameos, and stunning Los Angeles locations in almost every scene, this fresh take on a story we all love will have you laughing out loud in the theatre. What Charity Jamie Wants Us to Support

Jamie recommends we support her charity My Hand In Yours. Curtis founded the charity during COVID in 2020 with the hope of bringing people together to express shared values, become a powerful source for change, and connect the dots between creativity and compassion by selling one of a kind artist-made keepsakes. All proceeds support Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, helping fund pediatric care and services.
