1. Deadly Floods Hit Central Texas
Flash floods spread across parts of Central Texas along the Guadalupe River on Friday killing at least 51 at the time of publication. According to The New York Times, rescuers swarmed stretches of the river on Saturday in a desperate search for more than two dozen missing campers and others swept downstream in the flooding. 2. Israel and Hamas Near Ceasefire Agreement
According to The Washington Post, Hamas said Friday that it was ready to begin negotiations with Israel “immediately” over the implementation of a ceasefire proposal intended to pause the fighting in Gaza for 60 days—a window during which negotiators could work to secure an end to the conflict. The terms of the new deal contained guarantees of Trump’s commitment to the agreement and to continuing negotiations to reach a permanent cessation of hostilities that would see the release of all hostages.
