At The Sunday Paper, we often discover books, podcasts, films, and other works that spark inspiring change. This week, we are thrilled to turn over our recommends to our Sunday Paper PLUS readers! Our thanks to Anne, Suzanne, Lori and Kim for their recommendations. We hope these suggestions encourage you to come together for meaningful conversations.

What Anne’s Watching

Ten years later, The Night Manager is back with season 2. To bring down an international arms dealer, the intelligence service recruits Jonathan Pine, a former British soldier and the night manager at a luxury hotel, to infiltrate the group. Thanks for the suggestion, Anne!

What Lori and Kim Are Reading

The Window is John Grisham at his irresistible, unforgettable best,” said Chris Whitaker, author of All the Colors. In the latest novel from the master of the legal thriller, a failing marriage and a murder accusation propel small-town lawyer Simon Latch on a journey to clear his name. Thanks for the suggestion, Lori and Kim!

What Suzanne's Listening To

Democracy is changing rapidly, and Autocracy in America unfolds these changes as we think about what might happen next. In a recent episode, New York University professor Ruth Ben-Ghiat, author of Strongmen: Mussolini to the Present, joins the host to argue that funding cuts in medicine, education, and other fields are part of an autocratic project to maintain power. Thanks for the suggestion, Suzanne!

What Maria Is Watching

A bonus recommendation from Maria! She is going to the theater this week because Chris Pratt’s latest film, Mercy, is out! In the movie, Pratt plays Detective Raven, who helped create the Mercy Capital Court, a judicial system run by artificial intelligence. He is put on trial at this court and has only 90 minutes to prove his innocence before the execution.
