Holocaust Remembrance Day is coming up, and The Sunday Paper would like to highlight two architects of change—Auschwitz survivor Tova Friedman and her grandson Aron Goodman.

Goodman noticed a gap in Gen Z’s knowledge of the Holocaust when scrolling through TikTok. In school, he also found that the curriculum failed to provide adequate education on the topic, especially when it comes to combating antisemitism. This inspired him to join forces with his grandma to educate, reduce antisemitism online, and encourage people to speak out against it on TikTok.

Friedman lived at the Auschwitz concentration camp before she came to the United States at the age of 11.  “I was shocked when I spoke to kids my age…They were telling me about all kind of experiences when they were children—vacations, summer camps—I couldn’t believe it,” Friedman told TODAY in an interview.

We encourage you to learn more about Friedman’s story on TODAY and her website.
