At The Sunday Paper, we want to inspire you to gather at your table—virtually or with friends and family—and open your heart and mind to conversations that will move the needle. After all, the dinner table is where we connect on topics and map out the changes we can all make that’ll truly make an impact.

This week, to encourage your conversations, we recommend checking out the following:

What We're Reading:

Have you ever written yourself a letter? As we approach the end of 2022, we’re looking to Steve Leder’s invitation to write ourselves a meaningful letter about our life, also called an ethical will. In his latest book For You When I Am Gone, Leder shows us that reflecting on past joys and regrets can help us move forward with more happiness and gratitude in 2023. We encourage you to watch Maria’s HomeTogether conversation with Leder and read Sunday Paper editor Meghan Rabbitt’s interview with him.

We are also reading David Kessler’s book Finding Meaning: The Sixth Stage of Grief, which features an enlightening chapter on addiction. You can read about Sunday Paper editor Stacey Lindsay’s interview with him on making sense of collective grief here.

Leder and Kessler will speak to our Sunday Paper PLUS community on ways to Navigate Grief Around the Holidays On Tuesday, December 20, at 4 pm PT / 7 pm ET. Join today and RSVP.

What We're Watching:

The new documentary As Far As They Can Run tells the story of three children with intellectual disabilities in rural Pakistan who found a sense of belonging through sports and the Special Olympics, which was founded by Maria’s mother Eunice Kennedy Shriver. This week, Maria talked to the director Tanaz Eshaghian about this important film. You can watch their interview here.
